Our Host Families
Our criteria for selecting host families
We meet with the families regularly. New host families are selected carefully upon certain criteria. The basic hosting conditions are:
- The room provided in the flat: its comfort and the geographical situation of the lodging.
- The Host's motivation for welcoming a foreign student in his home
- The Host's desire to share a different culture
- The Host's capability to be implicated in this exchange
The obligations of the Host Family
The Host provides accommodation and balanced meals (breakfast and/or dinner). Rooms are cleaned and bed / bath linen changed at least once a week. The student will have his own key and the Host family is there to offer help and advice as well as to take an interest in his well-being. Our aim is to match up the student's requirements as closely as possible with suitable Hosts.
Students of the same mother-tongue will not be placed in the same family, except if requested. French is always the main language spoken.
Our Experience
Our Host families, for the most part, already have quite a bit of experience hosting. Real ties are formed during the stays with their Hosts who often remain in contact with the students after their departure.
Half-board accommodation is the best way to practice the language and experience French culture.
The friendliness and implication of the families to render the stay the most pleasant possible are the criteria required for all families, together with their wish to communicate and give a positive image of hosting in France
The flats and the rooms:
The flats are mostly 2, 3 or 4-bedroom lodgings, with an individual private bedroom for the student or a double room with double beds capable of accommodating two students. Each room has a closet and a desk, a chair, mirror and night table.
The bathroom:
The bathroom is usually shared, requiring to set up a schedule for its use in the morning and evening rush hours. A Host family may have a private bathroom for the student.
